Stand beside the water and watch the ferry’s volley back and forth from Kingston as people make their way to the Hoods Canal Bridge, Pt Townsend, and Bainbridge Island. Edmonds is a major port for Washington State Ferries. Not just a ferry terminal, but a quaint town with interesting shops to visit and wonderful Bistros that create memories! You might choose to visit the old fashioned bakery, enjoy the local espresso shop, maybe taste a bit of sushi or try some fresh caught fish! Edmonds encompasses four public waterfront beach parks and over 20 other parks and playfields. The Edmonds Underwater Park, north of the ferry dock, is a 27-acre marine preserve. It attracts scuba divers from across the world seeking certification. Sunken structures shelter schools of fish and plant life. This beach and preserve are protected. Laws have been passed so that the public can come and enjoy this beautiful park, but may not disturb the parks natural eco system. Thus, it will remain as nature’s creation both in and out of the water. |

Edmonds definitely has that “small” town feel. As of 2006, Edmonds shows a population of about 40,000. Yet, whatever you might need you can find in town or just a quick jaunt down the street to Everett. However, many of the people who live in Edmonds, are there because they prefer the lifestyle of going to the local shops, talking with neighbors and friends, slowing the pace of life down and enjoying “the good life.” |
