I’m bored, too stressed, have no money, wish I were thin, need to get in touch with my life and a host of other reasons make hiking an awesome choice! The Greater Seattle Area in specific and the Pacific Northwest in general make hiking so diverse and spectacular that virtually anyone can get addicted.
In the Seattle area we are all about conservation and utilization of the natural resources that are here. Nothing puts you in touch better than a walk along a trail lined on each side with natural wonders most people will never see. Fir trees, green all year round…delicate ferns gently unfolding their long green wands of tiny leaves….sun filled rays of warmth extending through the branches of ancient trees to kiss the forest floor…. Wildflowers in full view of the mountains….waterfalls carrying away the worries of the world splashing and rushing down the rock- laden hillside…..the high mountain lake with diamond blue water that invites stillness….the grandeur of a pinnacle point at the Crestline of the mountains with a view to last a lifetime…….This is why so many people in the Pacific Northwest hike.
It’s amazing! Walk your dog, skip rocks along the beach, bike ride along the street, or yodel in the Alps! It’s all done here, all the time. Our weather is conducive to being outside! While it does rain here, and that’s what people all want to talk about most, it is still a hiking and outdoor activity Mecca for outdoor loving people. The truth is that our climate is temperate in comparison to other northern cities, which makes this northern city VERY livable!
We have listed multiple sites for your enjoyment. Many of them have “contact” numbers and e-mails. Most all of them have photos and detailed information that you can view.

In the Pacific Northwest people camp, hike, fish, swim, bike, boat, scuba dive, skydive, rock climb, fly kites, jet ski, water ski, four wheel, clam dig, surf, skateboard, go cart and rodeo, just to mention a few of the overabundant outdoor activities they get enjoy! What’s your passion?
Skiing? Sledding? Snowball fights? Roasting marshmallows by the campfire? It’s all here waiting for you!

Hiking Tips:

  • Wear Bright Clothes
  • Hike with someone, not alone! DO NOT SEPARATE!
  • Take a whistle….it can be heard for miles!
  • ALWAYS tell someone that is not going, where you are going and when you plan to be back….STICK to your plan!
  • Be sure to have closed containers of water kept for an emergency.
  • Find close water….you can live without food but NOT WATER.
  • Stay in an open space so you can be seen if you get lost.
  • Build a fire for warmth in an open space so it can be seen if you get lost.
  • Don’t rest on cold ground…it robs the body of needed heat!
  • Take waterproof matches or a lighter with you.
  • Never say NEVER! Even experienced hikers get LOST! BE PREPARED!
